We are a large and friendly inclusive Sixth Form, offering a wide range of A level and BTEC courses as well as a comprehensive enrichment programme, with excellent teaching and pastoral support. Our Sixth Form students embody our school values: Responsibility, Respect, Tolerance, Curiosity, Knowledge, and Resilience.
We welcome the majority of our Year 11 students into Year 12 each year, along with increasing numbers of students from other schools. We are very proud that such a large number of students want to join our Sixth Form from other schools, and we believe this creates a wonderful diverse culture in each new Year 12 cohort that join us.
When running a Sixth Form, your head tells you that you need to provide an environment to ensure academic success, and we are very pleased with our fantastic 2024 results, with 28% of grades at A*-A, and 57% of grades at A*-B, which are some of the best results across the local area, and we know we can continue to improve on these results. However, your heart tells you we need to provide an environment where our students can grow into young adults and are ready for the world they are inheriting, and hence we run a comprehensive offering of enrichment and Personal Development to ensure our Sixth Form students leave us ready for their next steps in life.
We have a dedicated team of staff working with our Sixth Form students, including our hugely experienced Deputy Head of Sixth Form Mr Johnson, our Student Manager Mrs Smith (offering pastoral support), and Mrs Brennan in the Sixth Form office, as well as a team of highly experienced and dedicated Sixth Form tutors.
Our Sixth Form Centre reopened in September 2019 following a year-long £1.5 million refurbishment. It provides our students with a common room with its own café, a library, a silent study room, a computer room, and break-out rooms.
